Radiation is capable of being beneficial and harmful; it is therefore essential that every effort is made to minimize the harmful effects of therapeutic radiation whilst maximizing its benefits (Darby [13]). This chapter provides specific detailed information on the principles of nursing care in relation to radioisotopes in the clinical setting. This will enable staff to apply best practice principles when caring for patients, and facilitate the education and support of other healthcare professionals and visitors.
